Therefore Libertas has partnered with the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS) to create a Montessori public school teacher Institute & Residency. In our founding year, the summer Institute will run from early June through mid-July. Through the following year, Residents will receive regular observation and feedback from a mentor teacher, and monthly professional development. The Residency will complete with a capstone session the following summer. Libertas is working with NCMPS to obtain both accreditation from both MACTE (i.e. portable Montessori credential) and a public school teacher certification endorsement (i.e. Tennessee teacher license) for this Institute & Residency. The program would be valued at between $6,000 to $10,000, but Libertas will sponsor 100% of that cost for teachers who commit to three years of service. During the Residency (sometimes called "internship"), our Residents will be part- or full-time staff members with salary and benefits; during the summer Institute, participants may be eligible for a stipend.
