The Montessori School of Beaverton (MSB) is seeking on-call substitutes for 3-6, 6-9 and 9-12 classrooms. Located on a beautiful six-acre campus in Northwest Portland with gardens and wooded trails, MSB was designed specifically to provide Montessori education for children 3-12 years old.

All classroom assistants are expected to model respectful and positive behavior, ensure safety, oversee the activities of the children according to the specifications of the teacher, conscientiously supervise children during arrival/dismissal times and recess, and maintain an orderly and clean classroom.

Portland Montessori Collaborative, or pdxMC, is deeply committed to environmental sustainability and we integrate conservation into our curriculum and practice. Ours is an all day Montessori program serving children three months through six years. We encourage our staff to be open to changes within themselves, to learn daily and to be their authentic selves with the children. We view our role as teachers as a collaboration between adults and other adults and the adults and the children. We understand that learning happens all the time, and from every adult in the community. We are looking for someone to share their love of cooking and being with children. We are looking for someone to be part of the family.

This position involves lifting, cleaning, dishes, cooking, supporting teachers during breaks, and being with children outside as well as assisting children during mealtimes and in the bathroom. Montessori experience preferred but not required. This is a professional level position requiring at least one year experience in a certified childcare setting or equivalent education.

Before starting this position you must be enrolled in Central Background Registry, have a current Food Handlers Card, be current in Infant/Child First Aid/CPR, and have taken RCAAN. A minimum of 15 hours of professional development is required annually.

Hours are 9 - 5:30 with one half hour unpaid break, M-F and will be paid at a rate of $11-13 DOE. Health/dental/vacation pay available after ninety days.
