UPCOMING EVENTS

We are always looking to educate and advocate for Montessori education in our community. If you have any comments about previous events or if you would like to make a suggestion please let us know!

Free Information Sessions

January 13, 2015, 5:30pm - 7:30pm

Montessori Northwest opens its doors to the public on the second Tuesday of most months with a free open house and information session. Occasionally, we offer extended Open Houses on Saturdays. Prospective students will be able to tour our spacious facility, speak with staff members about our teacher training programs, and find out more about Montessori.

MNW graduates are invited to bring any friends who may be interested in becoming a Montessori teacher and show them around the training center, give them a presentation, and introduce them to MNW staff.

Local teachers are welcome to stop by and take a closer look at the environments, either for one’s own level of training, exploring another level’s classroom, or relaxing in the library.

Our bookstore and library will be open, and you'll be able to pick up information about other upcoming MNW events.

Please contact us if you have any questions about this event.

In Fall 2015, Montessori Northwest (MNW), one of the nation’s top Montessori teacher training centers, in affiliation with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), is planning to offer new Montessori teacher training courses at a convenient Bay Area location. These classes are being planned on a block schedule, in the evenings and on weekends, making the program ideal for people wanting to become teachers, while continuing in their careers. (learn more about this exciting opportunity here.)

On Thursday, December 4th, Admissions representatives from Montessori Northwest, in addition to teacher trainers and alumni, will host an information session about becoming an AMI Montessori teacher. Anyone interested in early childhood education, including working with babies & toddlers, and those already working in traditional education, are invited to come learn why becoming a trained Montessori "Guide" might be a great career path for you.

Montessori teacher training with MNW in the San Francisco Bay Area will enable you to earn an AMI diploma that opens the door to a fulfilling teaching career.  You will learn how to guide children on a journey of discovery—of themselves, of each other, and of the world around them.

Celebration of Light

Friday, January 30th, 2015,  5:30pm - 9:30pm

Same Celebration, New Format!

For nearly a decade, The Celebration of Light has been a time for Portland’s Montessori community to come together and support the work happening at Montessori Northwest. We’re profoundly grateful for all of the support we’ve received through the years which has helped us achieve many of our goals, including expanding our teacher training courses, cultivating new AMI teacher trainers, and initiating significant momentum around community networking and organizational partnerships.

At this year’s event, we look forward to sharing news about our satellite teacher training beyond Portland and our vision to open a demonstration Montessori classroom within an at-risk community here in our area. While there will still be a special appeal to the community, there will not be a silent or live auction, so the evening's focus can rest on celebrating this great work with friends, both old and new.

Join us on Friday, January 30, 2015, from 5:30 - 9:30 pm, at the Melody Ballroom, for the 10th Annual Montessori Northwest Celebration of Light, as we raise a glass to the teachers, administrators, parents, and supporters who compose this incredible Montessori community! !

Montessori in the Square

On July 30, 2014, Montessori Northwest hosted "Montessori in the Square," a public Glass Classroom event held in the heart of Downtown Portland, Oregon, at Pioneer Courthouse Square.

This celebration of Montessori education featured three large interactive Montessori classrooms: Assistants to Infancy (ages 0-3), Primary (3-6), and Elementary (6-12), activities for children, and information for parents. Trainers and guides will be on hand to assist viewers with questions. More information about the event or ideas for how to host a glass classroom in your community can be found here.
