Our application is a simple 3 step process designed to support your journey in becoming a Montessori teacher. When you complete these steps you are on your way to becoming a MNW student and on your path to changing the lives of children!

Step 1: Submit an Initial Application

Complete the short online form below. This includes basic information such as your contact information and which level of training interests you.  

Step 2: Schedule an Admissions Meeting

After we've received your application form, we'll contact you to set up an informal meeting, tour, or phone call with one of our admissions staff to answer questions and tell you more about the program.

Step 3: Send your Admissions Packet

Gather the materials to complete your admissions packet. This includes your resume, personal essay, supplemental questions, reference letters, and official transcripts. Click here for details.

We often have waiting lists for our courses and applications received after the Early Admissions Date will be considered on a space available basis. When a course is filled, successful candidates will be placed on the waiting list in the order accepted with the option of deferring enrollment to the next available course.

Application Review and admissions decisions

Applications are reviewed by our Admissions Committee. This committee is comprised of Montessori Northwest staff who hold and AMI Diploma at one or more levels. The Admissions Committee will review the application, in it's entirety, based on the Criteria for Admission. Potential students whose applications do not demonstrate all aspects of the Criteria for Admission may be asked to provide additional documentation to supplement their application. Applicants may be offered conditional acceptance to the course if a full admission is not granted.

Applicants will be informed in writing as to the status of their application within three weeks. If accepted, registration is required within two weeks of notification to reserve a candidate’s place in the course.

  • Academic skills for success in a comprehensive and rigorous course of study
  • Clear oral and written communication
  • Organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate within a community
  • Commitment to alternative education
  • The desire to support human development in positive and life affirming directions

The educational standard for all MNW courses is a Bachelor’s degree in any field. Exceptions are considered on an individual basis.

A submitted application must be complete before it can be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Loyola University Maryland M.ed. Application

Loyola University M.Ed Program

Montessori Northwest has a cooperative program with Loyola University Maryland. MNW Applicants who plan to participate in this program should contact the Loyola Program Coordinator, Carrie Stroup, for more details at 410.617.7765 castroup@loyola.edu.

Application Deadlines for Loyola University Maryland:

  • For MNW courses that begin in summer, priority application deadline for Loyola is TBD.
  • For MNW courses that follow the academic year format and begin in September, priority deadline for Loyola is TBD.
