Workshop: Biology Week

MNW is hosting Phyllis Pottish-Lewis as a guest lecturer on the Elementary training course January 11-15, 2016, and were inviting the Portland elementary community to attend and participate.

Ms. Pottish-Lewis' will deliver lectures on Biology, including: Flower, Fruit, & Seed; Kingdom Vegetalia, Kingdom Animalia, & Ecology. She will also lead two dissections: flowers and seeds the morning of 1/12 and invertebrates (squid) during the afternoon of 1/14.

LECTURE & DISSECTION SCHEDULE

Monday – Flower and fruit in the morning; seed in the afternoon
Tuesday – Use of the microscope and flower dissections in the morning; introduction to classification in the afternoon
Wednesday – Presentation of Kingdom Vegetalia all day
Thursday – Invertebrates in the morning and squid dissection in the afternoon
Friday – Kingdom Animalia, Ecology

Auditing any of the lectures is free. Fee's for dissections cover materials and handouts. Register by January 4, 2016, to guarantee your certificates of attendance for professional development.
