Our application process is designed to determine a candidate's suitability for successful completion our training courses. The documents required in your application packet are listed in the application forms below. We strongly encourage you to read the Student Handbook and What to Know Before You Apply for the level to which you are applying, located on the training pages) prior to submitting your application.

*Elementary with Foundations Course **Elementary without Foundations CourseWe often have waiting lists for our courses and applications received after the Early Admissions Date will be considered on a space available basis. When a course is filled, successful candidates will be placed on the waiting list in the order accepted with the option of deferring enrollment to the next available course.
Application Review and admissions decisionsApplications are reviewed by our Admissions Committee. This committee is comprised of Montessori Northwest staff who hold and AMI Diploma at one or more levels. The Admissions Committee will review the application, in it's entirety, based on the Criteria for Admission. Potential students whose applications do not demonstrate all aspects of the Criteria for Admission may be asked to provide additional documentation to supplement their application. Applicants may be offered conditional acceptance to the course if a full admission is not granted. Applicants will be informed in writing as to the status of their application within three weeks. If accepted, registration is required within two weeks of notification to reserve a candidate’s place in the course.
Criteria For Admission
Successful Candidates will demonstrate qualifications and suitability for successful participation in each course including:
- Academic skills for success in a comprehensive and rigorous course of study
- Clear oral and written communication
- Organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate within a community
- Commitment to alternative education
- The desire to support human development in positive and life affirming directions
The educational standard for all MNW courses is a Bachelor’s degree in any field. Exceptions are considered on an individual basis. p>
A submitted application must be complete before it can be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee is comprised of Montessori Northwest staff who hold an AMI Diploma at one or more levels. The Admissions Committee will review the application, in its entirety, based on the following Criteria for Admission.
Potential students whose applications do not demonstrate all aspects of the Criteria for Admission may be asked to provide additional documentation to supplement their application. Applicants may be offered conditional acceptance to the course if a full admission is not granted. An applicant who is denied entrance to the course based on the Criteria for Admission may request more information from the Admissions Director as to the reason for their denial. A denied applicant may reapply again for the next course cycle.
Applicants will be informed in writing as to the status of their application within three weeks. Feel free to contact the Admissions Director at any time with questions.

Montessori Northwest Application Form
Application Fee$25 non-refundable fee. MNW can accept exact change, personal checks made payable to 'MNW', and online payments.
Students accepted into a MNW course will receive a letter of acceptance as well as two copies of their Enrollment Agreement (see samples below). One copy of this Enrollment Agreement along with the registration fee* must be recieved by MNW within 14 business days of acceptance to hold a place in the course. Students who do not register within the 14 days will not be guaranteed a place in the course.
*$75.00 for early admission applicants and $125.00 for all others.

International Applicant Information
Montessori Northwest is certified through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program to offer I-20's for M-1 student visas.We recommend that applicants who require a student visa begin their application process no later than three months before their course of choice begins. It is also recommended that potential applicants take the time to review the website Study in the States.
The International Application Fee, the International Student Form, and supporting documents are due upon acceptance.
Application Fee & International Student FormA fee of $100 is required from all International Students requiring a student visa. This is in addition to the standard application and enrollment fees.
English ProficiencyProficiency in English is critical to success on MNW courses. One of the following exams is required of all international applicants from non-English speaking countries:
- Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) – Scores: Internet-80, Paper Based 550
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Score:6.5
International TranscriptsApplicants who hold degrees outside of the United States must have a course by course evaluation and/or translation of their academic records done by an approved evaluation services before they can be considered for admission. MNW recommends World Education Services, Inc. (www.wes.org)
Loyola University Maryland M.ed. Application
Loyola University M.Ed ProgramMontessori Northwest has a cooperative program with Loyola University Maryland. MNW Applicants who plan to participate in this program should contact the Loyola Program Coordinator, Carrie Stroup, for more details at 410.617.7765 firstname.lastname@example.org.

- For MNW courses that begin in summer, priority application deadline for Loyola is TBD.
- For MNW courses that follow the academic year format and begin in September, priority deadline for Loyola is TBD.
