AMI Orientation Courses

AMI Orientation Courses are offered at various times throughout the year and focus on specific age levels: 0-3, 3-6, and 6-12. Led by AMI Trainers who specialize in each age group. Orientation Courses are designed to prepare adults to work as assistants in Montessori classrooms, but are also valuable for anyone interested in learning more about Montessori and child development.

The 60-hour course includes online instructor lead sessions with independent student work between class meetings, and 9 hours of observation to complete the requirements to earn the AMI Orientation Course Certificate. The coursework includes lectures, discussions, readings, videos, guided observation, personal reflections, and essay writing. Each Orientation Course includes theory and practical topics related to working with children at that age level.

Note: Access to a computer, adequate internet and speed, and audio/video capacity are all necessary to participate in an Orientation Course.
