MNW’s programs are MACTE-accredited and available in three locations (Portland, OR, Pleasanton, CA, and Spokane, WA).

Scholarships are available through both MNW and Whitworth University. The programs are financial aid eligible. Visit whitworth.edu/financial-aid for more information (learners attending a MNW program in California are not eligible to receive federal financial aid).

International learners interested in our cooperative Montessori programs, please note that these programs are not SEVIS certified to enroll F-1 visa holders or other I-20 holders due to the primarily online structure of the program. If you hold a different type of visa, please connect with us to see if you are eligible to enroll.

Questions about the degree options? Contact Kathryn Picanco at kpicanco@whitworth.edu or 509.777.3459.

Montessori Northwest has partnered with Whitworth University in Spokane, WA to offer a Master of Education in Montessori degree that recognizes the work involved in Montessori training and provides additional coursework to enhance training in the complexities of classroom instruction. Your AMI Diploma will count for 27 credits toward an M.Ed. Three additional online Montessori Surround Courses focusing on working with special populations, social and emotional needs, and classroom management cover the remaining 9 credits.

  1. Apply to a Montessori Northwest AMI Diploma Program. Learners must be accepted into a MNW program before their application to the M.Ed. program will be considered.

  2. Apply to Whitworth’s Graduate Studies in Education and select: “Graduate School of Education” then select the M.Ed. in Montessori program level you’re applying to.

  3. Submit a Release of Records to MNW to request they send us these documents. You may use the same transcripts, transcript evaluations, recommendations, essays, and resume/CV for both applications. Please note that Whitworth University does require transcripts from all institutions of higher education you've attended, not just those you received a degree from.

  4. Additional application steps required for international students. Whitworth University requires an international student transcript evaluation approved by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) agency. Please see Whitworth's International Students Admissions site for additional information.
