  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Infant Classroom Guide to foster a collaborative, kind, and nurturing environment.     Essential Responsibilities

  • We are seeking a creative and experienced Primary classroom assistant to cover the morning work cycle through the beginning of nap in our 0-6 program on a stunning heritage property in Lake Oswego.

    Essential Responsibilities

    • This is a part-time position for 30 hrs/wk to cover the morning from 7:45 AM - 1:45 PM

    • Assist the Lead Guide in providing care and support for children in a structured learning environment.

    • Maintain the mandated safety measure, including adult:child ratio of 1:10 at all times

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Primary Guide develops and maintains a beautiful, orderly, and purposeful learning environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of children ages 3 to 6. The Guide uses clinical observation to inform the prepared environment, invites the child to engage in constructive activity, and protects that engagement in ways that both support the child’s concentration and models respectful social interaction. The Guide fosters independence, concentration, and a love of learning by presenting lessons and offering individualized support in accordance with Montessori principles. As the Assistant’s direct supervisor, the Guide sets clear expectations for their performance in the classroom and cultivates a supportive, nurturing, and collaborative relationship with the Assistant.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Teaching and Child Guidance

      • Employs clinical observation of individual children and the community to guide development and generate targeted interventions

      • Delivers clear lessons in practical life, sensorial, language, and mathematics, and enriches the curriculum with cultural presentations and discussions

      • Maintains a peaceful, respectful classroom environment where children feel physically and emotionally secure and can work independently without unnecessary disruption

      • Project a sense of wonder, curiosity, and excitement about each lesson; is fully present; models grace and courtesy; is flexible in response to children’s needs

      • Maintains awareness of the classroom while working with individual children; uses a soft conversational voice; does not interrupt children who are concentrating; waits to offer assistance until independent problem solving fails; is ready to support as needed

      • Ensures materials and furnishings are orderly, clean, in stock, and arranged to nurture concentration; rotates materials and images to keep the environment dynamic; participates actively in light cleaning and organizing

      • Cultivates a language-rich environment with age-appropriate print-materials, reading, materials for learning names of a wide range of concepts and objects, and conversation is substantive and ongoing
        Identifies student needs early, makes necessary adjustments to the environment and/or presentations to meet the unique needs of individual students

      • Treats families as essential partners in the child’s development, evidenced by frequent two-way communication; submits email and newsletter updates

    • Planning and Record Keeping

      • Devotes approximately two weeks before the school year and a few days after school ends to preparing, organizing the environment, and collaborating with colleagues

      • Clearly and consistently uses a reliable system of documenting lessons presented, observations, and each child’s progress; submits reports to the administrator as scheduled or requested

      • Conducts parent conferences twice per year

    • Collaboration and Supervision

      • Supervises and guides the Classroom Assistant to ensure consistency with Montessori principles and optimal support for the children

      • Meets with the Room team at least once a week to prepare, plan, and provide feedback and guidance

      • Meets 1:1 with the Head of School regularly

      • Participates actively in team collaboration, sharing observations, questions, and insights with colleagues and the administrator

      • Communicates classroom needs and any concerns about children, families, or staff to the administrator in a timely and professional manner

    • Community Engagement and Professional Development

      • Attends and contributes to school events, including parent education evenings and community gatherings

      • Actively fosters home and school partnerships through timely, pro-active, and responsive communication

      • Observes in at least two other classrooms (internally or externally) each year to support ongoing growth and alignment

    • Professional Development

      • Completes a minimum of 15 hours of documented training each school year. 8 hours in Child Development (CD) and 1 hour in Health, Safety, and Nutrition (HSN). All staff members must submit documentation to Oregon Registry Online

    • Health & Safety

      • Ensures children are supervised at all times
        Responds promptly to accidents, injuries, or behavior incidents, including timely completion of written reports and parent notification

      • Bears responsibility for the physical and emotional well-being of all children in their care
        Interprets the education program, the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the school to parents and other interested persons in a professional manner

      • Adheres to AMI guidelines and standards for the purpose of maintaining the quality and excellence of the Montessori experience for the children

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Required:

      • Certification (or near-completion of Diploma) from AMI (preferred), AMS, or another MACTE-accredited Montessori program

      • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of the needs of children ages 3 to 6

      • Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage unpredictable workflow and flexibility to respond thoughtfully and in a timely manner

      • Ability to work collaboratively in a small school community

      • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand verbal and written English

      • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

      • Pass a criminal background check

    • Preferred:

      • Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

  • The Office Manager is responsible for general office operations, facilities, and for the management of risk and compliance under the guidance of the Head of School. While the Head of School leads and administers admissions, the Office Manager administers enrollment and billing. The Office Manager performs other administrative tasks such as payroll, entering expenses in Quickbooks, maintaining staff files, and administering employees benefits. Generally, the Office Manager works in close collaboration with the Head of School. Tasks vary over the course of the year.

    General Operations

    • Is responsible for HR functions such as onboarding, reference calls, and benefits enrollment.

    • Establishes, maintains and organizes digital files, the website, the enrollment spreadsheet, collection of fees and tuition, etc..

    Finance

    • Tracks current-year expenditures and revenue in Quickbooks and relates to budget.

    • Compiles and issues monthly financial reports, such as Profit and Loss Reports, Statement of Financial Position, Cash Flow, and Budget vs. Actual.

    • Performs routine bookkeeping so that all funds are accounted for accurately, and deposits are made in a timely manner.

    • Keeps all parent accounts accurate and current and communicates effectively with parents.

    • Discharges all accounts payable in a timely and courteous manner: maintains vendor relationships, checks invoices, and pays in a timely manner.
      Provides twice monthly payroll amounts to payroll processing company, monitors reports prior to distribution.

    • Assures that health insurance premium payments are made at the time of each monthly payroll.

    • Reviews monthly deposits of employees’ FICA and state and federal income tax withholding and quarterly tax returns.

    • Monitors all bank records to assure accuracy.

    • Maintains an inventory of SunGarden’s assets, and does accurate depreciation for the accounting system. An accurate figure of SunGarden’s equity value should be maintained.

    • Categorizes expenditures and correspondence with Bookkeeper on accounting topics. Coordinates financial matters with Bookkeeper and Board Treasurer.

    • Administers Amazon and Costco supply ordering.

    Risk and Compliance

    • Periodically evaluates cost and coverage of alternative insurance policies for liability, casualty, children’s accidental injury, and workers’ compensation. Advises the HoS on recommended choices, and maintains the policies.

    • Monitors developments in the field of employee benefits. Works with insurance and investment companies to implement employee benefit programs.

    • Assures that the Form 990 (IRS Non-Profit) and Oregon CT-12 (charities annual report) are prepared and submitted in a timely manner, as well as all Form 5500 for each of SunGarden’s retirement plans to the IRS and DOL.

    • Schedules Sanitation and Fire Inspections for DELC Spring Visit, ensuring readiness and ongoing compliance.

    • Assures that leased facilities are maintained to the level required by lease terms, by DELC, by health and fire agency regulations, and by SunGarden’s own needs.

    • Updates staff on their Professional Development requirements; signs staff up for upcoming courses, processes those payments; assures staff is in compliance with prof. development requirements per DELC.

    • Executes Immunization Reporting, including correspondence with families, gathering of all forms and data, sending all documentation in, posting the community graphs of the current year data at both school and county level, etc..
      Reviews and signs off on accident and incident reports.
      Maintains emergency binders and supplies.

  • Sunstone Montessori School located in Milwaukie is seeking a Middle School Guide to join our Middle School Program beginning August 2026.

    The Middle School classroom is run by two Co-Guides and this position will co-teach with the existing Middle School Guide. In addition, this position works with Middle School Specialists, including an Art Specialist and Spanish Specialist and the Program Director.

    Work hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. during the school year with occasional evening and weekend commitments. This position is salaried, exempt, and benefit-eligible (medical, dental, and vision insurance, and more). Salary is commensurate with experience.

    Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, and three or more years experience teaching Middle School.   • McMinnville Montessori School (MMS) is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative guide to co-construct and lead a developing adolescent program (grades 7 - 8) to begin in the 2026/2027 school year. MMS is a non-profit school that has grown from its founding in 1983 as a single primary classroom to our current vibrant school community including two primary classrooms and one elementary classroom. We are now seeking to expand and create a space for adolescents to continue their learning journey with curiosity, independence, and social responsibility. This new program already has a dedicated space, and the guide will be supported by our existing team of primary and elementary guides, as well as our school and community leadership. It is our hope to welcome a creative and motivated collaborator, interested in shaping a new adolescent class within a well-established, vibrant Montessori community.

    Qualifications:

    • AMI Elementary Training with Adolescent Certificate (completed or in process) or AMI Adolescent Training. Strong candidates who have completed the AMI Elementary Training and plan to complete an Adolescent Training or Certificate in the next year will also be considered.

    • Strong understanding of and appreciation for the adolescent age group

    • Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to generate classroom communications via email and newsletters

    • Knowledge and understanding of Montessori philosophy standards

    • Ability to create and implement curriculum within adolescent Montessori program guidelines
