    We are seeking qualified applicants for a Lead Primary Montessori Guide & Fidelity Coach who will work either at our Alder Montessori or our new Hartley Montessori school. Most of our children enter as English language learners, with Spanish as the primary language. A successful candidate will be “We focused,” bring dependability, creativity, joy, positive enthusiasm, professionalism and a dedication to equity and high-quality Montessori early childhood education and qualify as ORO Step 9 or higher.

    As the Guide you will lead a Montessori primary classroom of children ages 3-5 at a tuition free full day Montessori program. The classrooms are co-located within a public elementary school. As Guide you will be responsible for presenting primary curriculum to students, participating in parent engagement/education and conferences, record and data management, and student assessment. Provision of day to day support and oversight to the classroom assistant(s) and collaborate modeling grace, courtesy and compassion with all students, families, peers, supervisors, and partner stakeholders. This position will be responsible to act as the back-up on site administrator. We will work with you to create a thoughtful plan of support for your classroom during the hours you are with coaching or observing Guides. Approx 70% of time as Lead Guide/30% as Coach/Mentor.

    This is a full-time 10-month salaried exempt professional position based on a school year/school day schedule.

    A successful candidate will have 10+ years’ experience as a Montessori lead primary Guide in a multi-age learning environment and will bring a deep knowledge of AMI Montessori primary classroom environments, operations, and lessons as well as dependability, creativity, joy, positive enthusiasm, professionalism and dedicated to equity and high-quality Montessori early childhood education. Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.

    Qualifications:
    High level experience and skills as a Lead Guide within a high-fidelity Montessori classroom. Demonstrated strong leadership and mentoring capabilities. Must be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with AEME policies and values, as well as the Montessori philosophy. As a Guide the core duties are to ensure a prepared Montessori environment; observation of students and classroom dynamics; provision of student lessons; complete assessments, plan and document all lessons. Guides provide training, support and guidance to the assistants who handle classroom dynamics and challenging behaviors, in order to ensure the Guide can focus on observations and lessons.

    Minimum Educational and Certification Requirements:

    • Montessori AMI Primary Diploma

    • Meet’s current criteria for Lead Teacher position as outlined by Oregon Childcare Licensing, and government funding source (Typically Preschool Promise and/or Preschool for All).
      Must have all training and certifications uploaded into Oregon’s ORO system.

    • Background checks and fingerprinting, and verification of being enrolled in the Oregon Childcare Registry as required by state licensing.

    Experience:

    • Must have a minimum of 10-year full-time experience in the classroom as a Montessori Lead Guide.

    • Strong classroom and behavioral management experience. Ability to set positive limit and maintain standards for behavior using grace and courtesy, and ability to teach this to others.

    Gold Standards for Educational and Certification Levels:

    • 15+years of full-time experience as a Primary Montessori Guide, post AMI Montessori Primary Diploma.

    • Master’s degree in early childhood education, preferably Montessori or Special Education.

This includes providing a welcoming environment and providing information and mini lessons on Montessori materials to promote a collaborative environment and the ability of these specialized educators to support the students within the classroom.     Demonstrated ability to treat children and adults with respect, kindness and dignity in all situations and work collaboratively to integrate and implement adaptive services and approaches into day-to-day work and the physical space as recommended by special education peers. The Guide will receive support from our Montessori School Manager, provide day to day coordination and oversight to the bilingual classroom assistant (s) and collaborate modeling grace, courtesy and compassion with all children and adults.     We are seeking a full-time AMI-trained Primary Guide for the 2026-2027 school year, with a start date in June or August 2026. Each West Hills Primary classroom serves 23-25 children aged three through six in a thoughtfully prepared environment.

    Our schedule closely follows the local public school calendar, and we also offer an enriching Montessori-inspired summer program. West Hills Guides are encouraged, though not required, to participate in summer programming—an opportunity many educators find rewarding and rejuvenating.

    Leadership & Administration

    • Serve as a member of BMS’s Leadership Team, representing the Elementary program at weekly Leadership Team and Administrative meetings.

    • Schedule, chair, and facilitate Lead Teacher Elementary Level Meetings, guiding planning, discussion, decision-making, and implementation.

    • Collaborate with Program Directors and Coordinators to support campus-wide community-building initiatives.

    Curriculum & Academic Oversight

    • Lead the review, documentation, and implementation of the Elementary curriculum scope and sequence, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment.

    • Collaborate with the Head Teaching Team to review, revise, and edit Elementary progress reports prior to distribution to families.

    Staff Leadership & Professional Development

    • Organize and oversee a peer observation and feedback program for Elementary teaching staff including Specialists, Interns.

    • Meet bi-monthly with Program Coordinator, Elementary support and AC staff to provide guidance and support.

    • Create and maintain staff schedules, including support staff, AC staff, and specialist coverage.

    Program Operations & Scheduling

    • Create and oversee the master schedule for the Elementary program, including classroom schedules, specialist services (Drama, Music, Science, Spanish), Boys & Girls Club PE, and after-school programming.

    • Coordinate and manage the Elementary after-school program (Activity Club) including Lead AC.

    • Plan, develop, and oversee the Elementary summer camp program.

    • Sub when required if Lead is out of the classroom

    Family Engagement, Enrollment & Community Events

    • Schedule and oversee new student visits and manage new parent communications.

    • Support Elementary enrollment by responding to family inquiries and ensuring prospective families progress through the admissions process.

    • Coordinate current and move-up parent classroom observations, including parent preparation meetings and distribution of expectation handouts.

    • Plan, organize, and supervise Elementary community events, including parent potlucks, breakfasts, plays, field trips, and Upper Elementary overnight experiences.

    • Collaborate with the Marketing and Events Coordinator to share weekly Elementary program updates and photos.

    Compliance, Accreditation & Resource Management

    • Coordinate documentation and administrative requirements for NWAIS and AMS accreditation for the Elementary program.

    • Ensure the Elementary program complies with Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) licensing requirements.

    • Update and maintain the Elementary Administrative Handbook in collaboration with the Leadership Team.

    • Place orders for Montessori materials and other classroom or program supplies.

    • Coordinate Elementary field trips, including ticketing and charter transportation.

    Requirements:

    • Deep understanding, commitment, and passion for authentic Montessori pedagogy and scope and sequence.
