Recorded Workshop – Supporting the Development of Writing

In order to support children with their writing skills, we have to provide experiences for them to share their thoughts and experiences as well as give them opportunities to develop their hands to be able to write with a pencil. We share ways in which we can support the children with their hand development, which is so crucial to writing with a pencil. We consider experiences that will allow the children to compose their thoughts before writing. This opens a new world for the children’s self expression, which allows them to freely write their thoughts and experiences. At the same time, we are providing a welcoming environment, so that all children can feel confident that they can use writing to express themselves and tell the stories of their backgrounds and cultures.

Join Director of Training Polli Soholt to explore ways that we can provide experiences that will enhance children's skills so that they can express themselves with the written word. We cover the sequence of skills that the children need to acquire and explore developmentally appropriate ways for them to gain success as authors.
